Here is a quick tip to free up resources and speed up Windows 7:
The Windows Search service is always running in the background. It monitors all files that are created, modified or deleted and creates a database of these activities. On systems that have a lot of files being changed this database can grow very large.
If never really use the windows search function because you know where your files are stored you can disable the Windows Search Service. Stopping this service will gain a significant performance boost in Windows 7.
- Click on the Start button and type in “services.msc”
- Find and right click the “Windows Search” and click properties
- Stop the service.
- In the startup type field choose “Disabled”
- Reboot your computer and you are done.
